Commissions

Creating commissioned work for customer’s homes or for special presents is something I love to do. The whole process of learning what my customer is looking for, what they want to achieve. Commissions reflect the customer’s personality, her/his favourite things, special requirements of place or occasion which is translated into a stained glass design, sometimes easily, sometimes it can be a challenge. In the end I have made a piece that I would probably never have made without the customer’s input.

How does it work?

We meet, we chat, in person or online. You tell me about your ideas, maybe show me photos, colours. If the commission is for your house I might visit and we look at the location, the light. Next I am going to make some quick sketches, sometimes outlines, subject drawings and/or colours. We chat again and after we have found your favourite design I will do a working sketch and glass colours are chosen with the help of glass samples.

The work can begin….

The design is for a front door inside a porch. The task was to combine the natural and the mechanical world in an abstract design to relate to the interests of the inhabitants of the house. Shapes was the first choice to be made, so I did some sketches of which they picked one. Next I used different colour schemes of which they picked there favourite. Glass colours were chosen to match the design and in the end the panels were finished and inserted into the door.
